CIDS Emerging Leaders Program

The Clinical Infectious Diseases Society (CIDS) is pleased to invite applications for the CIDS Emerging Leaders Program, aimed at identifying and nurturing future leaders in the field of infectious diseases.

This prestigious program recognizes excellence at an early career stage, fosters capacity building and succession planning, and provides selected early-career ID physicians the opportunity to engage closely with CIDS activities. Emerging Leaders will have opportunities to showcase their work, contribute to the Society’s initiatives, and build national and international networks.

Selected individuals will serve a four-year term as Emerging Leaders.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be early-career Infectious Diseases (ID) physicians who are Executive Life Members of CIDS.
  • Be under 40 years of age at the time of application.
  • Have completed 3 to 10 years of post-ID training (DM/DrNB/FNB or equivalent).
  • Demonstrate excellence in clinical practice, research, and leadership, along with active involvement in CIDS activities.
  • Show clear evidence of a promising career trajectory and leadership in the field of Infectious Diseases.

About the Program

  • Selected Emerging Leaders will receive mentorship from senior leaders of CIDS.
  • They will actively assist in CIDS activities, fostering leadership development, innovation, and strategic growth within the Society.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit the following:

  • Personal Statement (maximum 500 words) that:
  • Describes what you hope to achieve as a CIDS Emerging Leader during your four-year tenure.
  • Proposes one new initiative that your Emerging Leader cohort could implement.
    • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
    • Letter of Recommendation from a CIDS Executive Life Member highlighting your achievements and leadership potential.
    • Declaration of Commitment confirming your willingness to:
  • Attend quarterly online meetings and topic-specific calls
  • Participate in Knowledge Exchange webinars
  • Engage on social media to raise CIDS visibility
  • Contribute to the CIDS journal, blog, or other communications
  • Support CIDS initiatives and respond to emerging opportunities
