CIDS/RSTMH Trainee Research Prize
The Clinical Infectious Diseases Society (CIDS), in collaboration with the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (RSTMH), is pleased to announce the CIDS/RSTMH Trainee Research Prize – a distinguished award that recognises outstanding original research in Infectious Diseases (ID) conducted by trainees and early-career physicians.
This award underscores the commitment of both CIDS and RSTMH to fostering a culture of scientific excellence and mentorship, empowering the next generation of infectious diseases researchers to lead innovation in science, clinical care, and policy.
Objectives of the Prize
- To recognize excellence in scientific research undertaken by ID trainees and early-career physicians.
- To encourage innovation and rigor in the pursuit of impactful research in infectious diseases.
- To highlight and support promising talent, offering visibility and connection with national and international ID communities.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the prize, applicants must:
- Be a current trainee/fellow in an accredited Infectious Diseases training program (DM/DrNB/FNB), or have completed such training within the last two years (documented by a degree certificate or a letter from the Head of Department or Program Supervisor).
- Be a current member of CIDS.
- Not have previously received the Trainee Research Prize.
- Submit original research that has not been published or presented prior to CIDSCON 2025.
- Have their abstract submitted for CIDSCON 2025 and tick the checkbox for ‘Apply for the CIDS/RSTMH Trainee Research Prize’ at the time of abstract submission.
Prize and Presentation
The top three abstracts selected will receive:
- A cash award.
- A certificate jointly issued by CIDS and RSTMH.
- A complimentary one-year membership to the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene.
- An opportunity to present their research orally in the dedicated ‘Fellow’s Corner’ session at CIDSCON 2025.
The winners will be selected by the CIDS Scientific Committee and announced at the conference.
